Senior Miguel Hernandez-Corza poses with his family after signing a letter to play college football

On Friday morning, Adams City High School senior Miguel Hernandez-Corza signed his letter of intent to play football for Feather River College in California.

The high school held a celebratory assembly at 10 a.m. for Miguel to sign the letter. Adams 14 Athletic Director Jacob Katz gave a speech congratulating the senior, who will be graduating in the spring.

“Adams City High School and Adams 14 are just so incredibly proud of Miguel,” Katz said. “He represents what we want all our student-athletes to be. He’s a leader on and off the field, a great young man and he’ll be successful in whatever he decides to do.”

Miguel also spoke during the event and thanked his family, coaches, teachers, and classmates for “helping me realize that I have to work harder to get what I want.”

“I am excited to continue my football career at the next level,” he said. “It took everyone in here helping me to get to college.”

After signing the letter of intent, Miguel’s classmates and teachers went up to the stage to congratulate him and take pictures.

“Really proud of this kid,” said ACHS Football Coach James Rogers. “He’s just a versatile kid that can do everything on the football field. Just what the doctor ordered.”

“Miguel is one of the most caring people I’ve ever known. He gives his heart to everything he does,” says Sheral Ransom, a teacher at ACHS. “I just can’t wait to see how far he can take this and it’s going to be amazing to watch him grow.”
