Athletics Eligibility Guidelines

Student-athletes are required to take five classes at minimum to be eligible to participate in athletics. If a student is only taking five classes, they may not be failing any classes to maintain eligibility.

If a student is taking six to eight classes, they may only be allowed to be failing one class with an F to maintain eligibility per guidelines from the Colorado High School Athletics Association (CHSAA). Coaches may enforce a higher academic eligibility standard to participate on the team. This will be discussed at the pre-season meeting for each sport. Students and their parents or guardian will be required to sign the coach’s academic eligibility requirement in order to participate on a specific team.

Registration Process

A student who is eligible for high school athletics can register for a sport through the following steps:

  • Get an annual physical examination either through Kids First Health Care (free service) or through your medical provider
  • Upload the report on your rSchool account
  • A parent or guardian must register their student and sign the online forms through their rSchool account
  • Pay the annual $35 fee through My School Bucks or in person with Athletics Secretary Lorena Lopez
